Microsoft Corporation Expanding Skype Reach


It has been rumored that Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) is planning the launch of ‘Skype for web browsers’, which could aim to bring Skype’s voice calling functionality to browsers without the need for a standalone client app.

The software giant has listed at least four job posts describing a “Skype for Browsers” project and looking for developers to bring the “Skype experience on to the Web.”

The move is expected to make it possible to use the Skype service on upcoming Windows 8 tablets through a web app, and pretty much on any other device / OS combination supporting HTML5 and other standards, including Google’s Chrome OS where users can’t install stand-alone applications.

Microsoft Corp. (NASDAQ:MSFT) stocks were at 31.44 at the end of the last day’s trading. There’s been a 10.0% change in the stock price over the past 3 months.
