BP plc (NYSE:BP) has started its Devenick gas project in North Sea.

The oil and gas producer BP plc (NYSE:BP) announced the opening of the Devenick gas project in the Central North Sea.

The project will boost the UK’s gas production up to three percent by next year.

The total investment of the project is 650 million pounds and the output from the field with peak at 100 million standard cubic feet per day in 2013.

BP plc (NYSE:BP)’s North Sea business regional manager Trevor Garlick said, “The Devenick project has been delivered safely and on schedule. The project provides an important source of domestic gas to the UK and has also been a great example of the UK’s strengths in subsea engineering. Around £500 million has been invested in the UK supply chain during the development of this project”.

BP plc (NYSE:BP) shares are currently standing at 42.57.
